Rotating Drum Filter

BioNovations’ Rotating Drum Filter (RDF) is a technologically advanced solid waste removal filter designed for aquaculture, food processing, and other environmental filtering applications. Constructed of food grade polyethylene plastic for durability, the RDF is easy to use, energy efficient and self-cleaning.

BioNovations Inc Rotating Drum Filter Is a Must Have in Large Recirculation Facilities!

Features:

  • Highly Efficient Prefilter: Removes all suspended particulate to the size of the micron screen in a single pass. Effective for fine and soft solids removal, plankton harvesting, and filtering colonies of unicellular organisms.
  • Energy Efficient: Low energy consumption and only 4-30 litres (1-8 US gallons) per minute of backwash water. Water recovery system is available if appropriate water supply is not available. Optional backwash timer is also available.
  • Variable Screen Sizes: Standard Screen sizes are 15, 60 and 100 microns. Other micron sizes are available upon request.
  • Self Cleaning – BioNovations Inc. rotating drum is set up to be cleaned automatically or it can be set on a timer.
  • Single Stage Filtration: High capacity single stage filtration precisely separates soft solids down to micron sizes of the screen with a single pass.
  • Durable: Constructed of food grade polyethylene with a removable cover, the micron screen is constructed of commercially woven polyester and can be easily replaced. Moving parts are minimal thus reducing operating and maintenance costs.
  • Salt Water Environment: All materials are unaffected by salt water environments and will work for many years of high quality service.
  • Capacity: Flow handling capacity depends on the screen mesh and solids content of the wastewater to be screened. This can vary depending on the species, metabolic rate, feeding, shedding, etc. (Variable screen sizes are available.)

Filter Operations:

Water enters the RDF through a large opening in the end of the drum. Then the water is filtered through the micron filter screen which fits on the outside of the rotating drum. Water vertically passes through the micron filter screen to the RDF reservoir below leaving solids on the interior of the drum screen.   Clean water then exits the RDF either through the sides or on the bottom of the reservoir, depending on customer specifications.  The spray bar situated above the rotating drum removes the debris on the filter to the waste collection trough. The solids and small amount of water used are then conveyed through the plumbing to a drain or alternatively to a filter bag (which can be changed in minutes). The micron sizing of the filter screen is dependent on the application.
