Protein Skimmer

 

BioNovations Inc.’s Protein Skimmer is a *Venturi driven foam separator device for removing proteins, suspended solids, and dissolved organic matter. These dissolved and suspended materials make up the color, taste and turbidity that only a foam separator can remove. Clean water will not generate foam, but if semi-solids exist in the system, foam will be observed and occupies a considerable volume but little mass.

*Venturi – Water flow through the Venturi creates suction to draw in air to create tiny bubbles which accumulate dissolved organic contaminates on their walls which in turn creates foam. They then separate from the water inside the chamber and culminate in the top of the chamber where they overflow into the waste collector. The air can be adjusted to create a slow discharge of foam without heavy water content.
